Care for your leather furniture by moisturizing regulary.

Leather furniture needs regular cleaning and conditioning to be displayed at its best. Since a set of leather furniture is expensive, it is important to protect your investment by moisturizing properly. Many leather-cleaning products do not contain a conditioning element, meaning you must purchase and apply a separate moisturizing element. Instead, make your own homemade leather cleaner and conditioner that can be applied just once, saving you time and energy. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the leather furniture with a hose attachment to get rid of loose crumbs and buildup.

    • 2

Pour a mixture of vinegar and oil into a dish or container. Add one part white vinegar and two parts of either olive oil or linseed oil. Both oils work well; simply choose the one you have on hand, and make enough cleaning solution to clean all of your leather furniture.

    • 3

Stir the mixture with a spoon to combine the vinegar-and-oil solution.

    • 4

Dip a cleaning rag into the mixture, and squeeze gently to remove excess cleaning solution.

    • 5

Wipe the cloth over the entire piece of furniture, applying a very thin, even layer of the cleaner to the leather surface. Let it sit overnight.

    • 6

Buff the leather the next morning with a dry cleaning rag. Rub in small circular motions, which will remove any leftover oil and shine the leather.
