How Can I Connect My Computer to My DSL Modem & Make it Wireless?

Connecting your computer to your DSL connection and establishing a wireless connection is best accomplished with a device known as a wireless router. This will enable you to broadcast a wireless signal throughout your home, allowing all computers within range to connect to the network and share your DSL Internet. The setup procedure can be done within 15 to 30 minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Wireless router
• Ethernet cable

Instructions

1. Plug the Ethernet cable from your DSL modem into the Internet port on your wireless router.

2. Plug your computer's network card into any port on the back of the router using an Ethernet cable.

3. Open your Internet browser and enter in the access address in your router's instruction manual to access the settings. This is typically something like 192.168.0.1.

4. Follow the instructions for your particular router to setup your wireless network.

5. Open "Start" on your computer and click "Connect To."

6. Select "Connect to a Network," select your wireless network from the list, and press "Connect."
