Add hot water and a tablespoon of dish soap to the garbage disposal. Run it until all of the suds disappear.

Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain and garbage disposal. Follow with 1/2 cup white vinegar to clean and deodorize. Allow it to sit until all of the foam disappears.

Rinse the drain and garbage disposal thoroughly with cool water. Turn on the garbage disposal and add one to two cups of ice cubes while the water is running.
