How to Install Headlights on a Mitsubishi

The headlights on your Mitsubishi use a traditional 9004 halogen headlight. The headlight uses a filament to produce the light and reflects this light off of the back of the headlight housing. Many Mitsubishi vehicles also use dust covers to protect the headlight housing and headlight, from debris when it is inside the housing. When the filament breaks, your headlights need to be replaced. Replacement headlights for your Mitsubishi can be purchased from most auto parts stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the hood of your Mitsubishi and unplug the power connector from the headlight. The connector has a small release tab on the top of the connector that you need to push down on to release the connector.

    • 2

Pry the dust boot off of the back of the housing assembly using your fingers.

    • 3

Rotate the headlight counterclockwise and pull the headlight out and up at a 45-degree angle to remove the headlight from the housing assembly.

    • 4

Insert the new headlight and rotate it clockwise to lock it into the housing assembly.

    • 5

      Replace the dust cover.

    • 6

Reconnect the electrical connector to the headlight.
