How to Get a DSL Modem to Work on Ubuntu Linux thumbnail
DSL modems take special configuration in Ubuntu Linux.

Using a DSL modem on Ubuntu Linux follows a different process than standard Ethernet configuration. If you are not using a router and instead are connecting to the DSL modem through Ubuntu, it will need to know your login information in order to connect you to your ISP and make sense of the information sent to your computer. Although there is no graphical DSL configuration tool for Ubuntu, you can configure your DSL modem through the system terminal.
