How to Set Font Color & Size of Letters on My Computer
Changing the font size and color on your computer can be done for readability, accessibility for people with visual impairments or simply as a matter of personal preference. For computers that use Microsoft Windows, it's simple. The font color and letter size can be changed either from the Desktop, from Microsoft Word or from one of the other application programs like Microsoft Works Spreadsheet or Database.

Move the pointer to an empty spot on the Desktop. Right-click and select "Active Desktop" and "Customize My Desktop." Select the "Appearance" tab from the "Display Properties" window.

Click the "Item" drop-down menu and select 'Message Box" to change the font and size of the letters in each message box. Click the "Size" drop-down menu next to "Font" and select "18." Click the "Color" drop-down menu next to the "Size" menu and select the teal color. Click "Apply" to view the changes.

Scroll through the items on the "Item" drop-down menu and note that you can change the font color and letter size for many items, but not for others, such as "Desktop" and "Application Background." Confirm that font color and size for these two items cannot be changed. Find them in the "Item" drop-down menu and select them.

Open Microsoft Word.

Select "Format" from the top items and select "Font." Select "8" from the "Size" menu and click on the "Font color" drop-down menu. Select "orange."

Click "OK" to apply the changes.
Microsoft Works Spreadsheet

Note that for font changes, Microsoft Works Spreadsheet operates like Microsoft Word.

Open a Works spreadsheet.

Select "Format" from the top items and select "Font." Select "8" from the "Size" menu and click on the "Select font color" drop-down menu. Select "green."
