How to Make Face Masks for Cleansing Your Face

However, you can get a great cleansing facial at home for a fraction of the price of a spa facial. All you need are a few basic ingredients, many of which you can find in your kitchen. Avocado-based masks help moisturize dry skin while oatmeal-based masks help cleanse oily skin. Does this Spark an idea?

Avocado, Cucumber and Milk Mask
-
1
Measure your ingredients. You will need one egg white, two teaspoons of powdered milk, a cup of chopped avocado and a cup of chopped cucumber. Put all the ingredients into your blender or food processor. Blend the concoction until you achieve the consistency of paste. If the mixture is too thin and runny, add more powdered milk.

Before you apply the mask to your entire face, apply a small amount to one patch of your skin under your chin or on your neck. You want to ensure that your skin isn't sensitive to any of the ingredients. Wait about five minutes to make sure you don't experience any itchiness or redness.

When you are sure that your skin isn't sensitive to anything in the mask, put a few tablespoons of the mixture in your hand. Using your fingers, massage the mask into your face and neck. If you have long hair, pull it back into a ponytail so it is off your face.

4
Treat your eyes separately. Do not apply the mask to the skin around your eyes, because this skin is extra sensitive. Instead, cut two slices of the leftover cucumber and place one on each eye. Then lay down and relax as the mask works its magic.
-
5
Let the mask harden for about a half an hour. Then rinse it off with cool water and dry your face with a towel. Repeat this entire process every few weeks to rid your skin of impurities. You will notice that your skin is tighter, firmer and smoother.
Oatmeal Honey Mask

6
Boil a quart of water on the stove. Once the water has come to a boil, pour the water into a bowl and add three chamomile tea bags. Let the tea bags steep and allow the water to cool down to room temperature.
-
7
In a blender or food processor, grind two thirds of a cup of plain oatmeal until it is a fine powdery consistency. Then mix in a half a cup of plain yogurt and one quarter of a cup of honey. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
-
8
Use your fingers to pat the oatmeal mixture onto your face, avoiding the area around your eyes. Relax and let the mask set for fifteen or twenty minutes.
-
9
Use the lukewarm chamomile tea to rinse the mask off of your face. Your pores will be smaller, your complexion brighter. Repeat every few weeks for a deep cleanse.
