How to Resize a Picture With a Paint Program

Reduce or enlarge a picture on your computer using a paint program, such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Start the paint program. Using the File menu, locate the picture and open it.

  2. Step 2

    Select Image from the menu bar. The resize command will be named Resize or Image Size. Locate and select the command.

  3. Step 3

    Resize the image by changing the number of pixels, the size in inches, or the percentage.

  4. Step 4

    Save the picture by selecting Save As from the File menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Making a small picture large can result in distortion. It's always better to start with an image that is too large.
  • Making a large image smaller can decrease the image quality and the viewer's ability to see detail. Don't make it too small!
  • Obtain permission before using any unlicensed or copyrighted clip art.
  • Do not use images from another Web page without permission from the owner of the site.
