How to Resize a Picture With a Paint Program

Reduce or enlarge a picture on your computer using a paint program, such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.

• Internet Access
• Adobe Photoshop
• Paint Shop Pro
• Paint Shop Pro

1. Start the paint program. Using the File menu, locate the picture and open it.

2. Select Image from the menu bar. The resize command will be named Resize or Image Size. Locate and select the command.

3. Resize the image by changing the number of pixels, the size in inches, or the percentage.

4. Save the picture by selecting Save As from the File menu.

Tips & Warnings

• Making a small picture large can result in distortion. It's always better to start with an image that is too large.
• Making a large image smaller can decrease the image quality and the viewer's ability to see detail. Don't make it too small!
• Obtain permission before using any unlicensed or copyrighted clip art.
• Do not use images from another Web page without permission from the owner of the site.
