How to Flash the BIOS in an R31
Flashing the BIOS on your Lenovo R31 refers to the process of overwriting the existing information on the motherboard's BIOS chip to replace it with an updated version. This is possible through the use of the Lenovo BIOS update utility available from their support page. The entire process can generally be done in around 10 to 20 minutes.

Download the BIOS update utility (see Resources).

Click "Save" and save the file to the root of your "C" drive.

Click "Start" and select "Run."

Type "c:\1fud51us.exe" into the text box and press "Enter." Follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS. The computer will automatically shut down when the update completes.

Start the computer. Press "F1" when prompted for the BIOS Setup Utility message. Check that the BIOS version and the current date are displayed.
