How to Set the Dish Network Remote ID on a Dish DVR

Keep your signals from crossing.

Dish Network satellite receivers come with a remote control that is usually pre-programmed by a Dish Network technician when your satellite service was initially installed. However, your remote ID can get mixed up with a neighbor's Dish Network DVR. Although your remote still works with your DVR, the signal can become intermittent and unreliable. If this happened to you, you'll need to reset the Dish Network remote ID on the Dish Network DVR to ensure that your signals do not remained mixed up.

Instructions

1. Turn on your television and your Dish Network satellite receiver.

2. Enter the "System Info" screen on your Dish Network DVR. To do this, open the front panel on the right side of the DVR. Press the "Info" or "System Info" button. Alternatively, if your Dish Network remote is working, click the "Menu" button on the remote and then select "System Setup," "Installation" and "System Info."

3. Press and hold the "SAT" button at the top of the Dish Network remote for about six seconds until all of the mode buttons at the top of the remote light up.

4. Press any number from 1 to 15 using the keypad on the Dish Network remote. This is the new remote ID.

5. Press the "#" key on your remote.

6. Press the "Record" button in the middle of the Dish Network remote and the new remote ID is stored on your Dish Network DVR.
