How to Make a Crossword Puzzle With a Word Bank
You can make your own crossword puzzles to print and share using a variety of free online puzzle generators. Once you have come up with your own word bank and clues, you can simply enter them into the online forms to generate your personal puzzle to print and photocopy. Customized crossword puzzles work well as gifts for friends and family, or as worksheets for school vocabulary lessons.

Visit online crossword puzzle makers to select one to use. Look at the Puzzle Maker section of Discover Education, the Crossword Puzzle Maker at Armored Penguin, or the Printable Worksheets section of the Teachers Corner. You might want to choose one puzzle maker over another because it allows you to create larger puzzles, puzzles with larger squares, or puzzles with longer clues.

Select and enter a title for your puzzle in the form. Enter an author name if you wish.

Specify the number of squares you want for the puzzle's width and height.

Specify a size and color for the puzzle's squares if options are available.

Enter the words from your word bank and the corresponding clues into the online form.

Click "Make Puzzle" or "Start" and wait a few minutes for the site to process your information.

Print the puzzle and then make additional copies with a photocopier if you wish.

Tips & Warnings
You might want to write your word bank and clues in a word processor and then copy and paste them into the online form to ensure that your work will be saved even if an error occurs with your Internet or the Web site.
