Before attempting to place letters on the glass, form the message you will be painting on to the surface on a piece of paper. It is best to have a relatively short message. When composing the words, keep in mind how much space you have on the glass and potential locations for the text.

After assessing the dimensions of glass you have to work with, use little pieces of scotch tape to mark where your message will be. Use a piece of tape to mark the beginning and end of each line. If you are using lettering in an atypical format, make sure the tape is placed at the beginning and end of each lettering area. Place the tape below where you plan for the lettering to be.
