The Internet is a group of computer networks that allows sharing of information between your computer and the Internet. But there are some websites that can exchange harmful information and cause damage to your computer. Any suspicious websites such as this should be blocked to avoid the sharing of information between your computer and the harmful Internet website. The Internet browsers Explorer and Firefox provide blocking options to protect your computer from harmful websites containing viruses, worms, malware, spyware or any other kind of malicious software.

Instructions

  1. Block Websites on Internet Explorer

      Launch Internet Explorer.

      Click "Tools," "Internet Options," "Content," "Settings" and the "Content Advisor" dialog box is displayed.

      Click "Approved Sites" and type the website address you want blocked and click "Never" and then "Apply." The first time this feature is used, the security password dialog box is displayed so you can assign a password for future changes. For subsequent changes, type the "Password" in the "Supervisor Password Required" dialog box.

      Click "OK" to establish the website blocks typed in, exit the "Content Advisor" and to close the "Internet Options" dialog box.

      Close the browser window so that when the browser is opened again the blocked websites are established.

    Block Websites on Firefox

      Launch Mozilla Firefox.

      Download the "BlockSite" software.

      Click the "Restart Firefox" button to complete the software installation and launch Firefox again.

      Click "Tools," "Add-ons," and click the "Options" menu associated with the "BlockSite" add-on. The "BlockSite Preferences" dialog box is displayed.

      Click "Add" and type in the website address of the site you want blocked and click "OK."
