SanDisk produces flash memory cards that have a number of uses, from storing pictures on a digital camera to backing up important files. Using a SanDisk memory card is much like using a USB jump drive. It interfaces with your computer by showing up as an external drive, and files can be copied to and from the card without much difficulty.

  1. Browse the Contents of Your SanDisk Card

      Insert your SanDisk memory card into your computer's card reader. Sometimes these are built into your computer. If you don't have a card reader, you can purchase an external one that connects via USB.

      Click "Open to view files" from the AutoPlay menu that pops up. The contents of the card will be displayed in a Windows Explorer panel.

      Browse through the panel until you locate the files you wish to transfer or the destination that you wish to transfer files to.

    Copy Files from the SanDisk Card to the Computer

      Navigate the Explorer window displaying the contents of the SanDisk card and select the files that you wish to copy by clicking on them once. To select multiple files, hold down the "Ctrl" key while clicking.

      Hit the "Ctrl" and "C" keys simultaneously to copy the files.

      Navigate to the location on your hard drive where you wish to copy the files to.

      Transfer the files to your computer by hitting the "Ctrl" and "V" keys simultaneously.

      Navigate your computer and select the files that you wish to copy by clicking on them once. To select multiple files, hold down the "Ctrl" key while clicking.

      Copy those files by hitting the "Ctrl" and "C" keys simultaneously.

      Transfer the files by hitting the "Ctrl" and "V" keys simultaneously.

Tips & Warnings

  • While holding the "Ctrl" key allows you to select multiple files one at a time, holding the "Shift" key allows you to select a group of files with one click.
