How to Remove IE As the Default Browser
There are many web browsers to chose from. Internet Explorer is always included on systems that contain one of Microsoft's operating systems. To change IE as your default web browser, you need to install another web browser. If you already have another web browser on your computer such as Firefox, the browser will ask you to make it your default browser upon startup unless you have selected for it not to ask you. In that case, you will need to enable the question again so that you can change your default browser. The directions are similar in other browsers as well.

Download and install another web browser. Some other popular web browsers include Firefox, Apple Safari and Google Chrome.

Launch the web browser you want to set as your default browser.

Select "Yes" when prompted by the new browser to make that browser your default web browser.

Open your web browser that you want to make your default.

Select the "Tools" menu and select "Options."

Select the "General" tab.

Place a check mark in the box next to "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on start up." Then press "OK."

Close and reopen the Firefox browser. Then select "Yes" to make the browser your default.
