Homemade Ice Fishing Sled
If you don't have a problem sitting and waiting in extreme cold weather, then ice fishing might be for you. It requires patience as well as endurance in harsh conditions out on the ice, and those who are really into the sport have all the added features such as shelters and sleds. The sleds are meant to help you haul supplies out on the ice, and you can make one fairly easily.

1
Get a snow sled from the store. It can be one with blades or the plastic kind that are flat on the ground. Buy one large enough for your gear.
-
2
Drill holes into the left and right side of the front of the sled. Insert a five-foot length of rope into the holes. Insert one end of the rope through each hole and tie a knot so that it cannot slide back through. This will give you a way to pull the sled.

3
Place a plastic box such as a deep storage tote on the sled, but make sure you leave room for another container as well. Drill holes through the inside of the container and sled, and bolt the sled and box together. Insert the bolt from the bottom and up through the container. Screw on the nuts inside the box.
-
4
Add a cooler to the sled, behind the box you just attached. The box is for gear, and the cooler is for fish you might catch. Attach the cooler in the same way as the other box. Use wing nuts instead of nuts for easy removal.
-
5
Add additional features if you want, such as fishing pole holders or a cushion on top of the cooler for you to sit on. These embellishments are completely up to you. Use your imagination.
