Modding a PSP 2000 can be done using a Magic memory stick and Pandora battery.

The Sony PlayStation Portable is a video game console that can be modded using custom firmware. Custom firmware can be installed on all versions of the PSP, including the PSP 2000. Firmware essentially is the operating system for the PSP, and it can be customized by independent developers. Once custom firmware is installed, you can do things like back up entire games on your memory stick and play them from there.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Sony PSP and remove the battery and memory stick from the device. The battery port is located on the rear of the device, while the memory stick reader is on the side of the PSP.

    • 2

Insert your Magic memory stick into the PSP memory stick reader. This memory stick has the modded firmware located on it. Insert the Pandora battery to the PSP and your PSP will turn on by itself and go into service mode.

    • 3

Press the "X" button two times to install the modded firmware on your PSP 2000. Wait as the custom firmware is installed, and press the "X" button once more to shut down the PSP after the installer finishes.

    • 4

Remove the Magic memory stick and Pandora battery from the PSP and replace them with the normal ones you previously removed in Step 1. Turn on your PSP 2000 and you will be running modded firmware.

Tips & Warnings

  • Installing custom firmware onto your PSP is legal but will void the warranty.
