Google is the name of a popular search engine people use to search the Internet. If you use Google often, you can set Google.com as your home page and make Google your default search engine. It takes little time to make these changes to your Internet browser and making these changes will save you from having to type in the address every time you want to access Google.

    1. Firefox

        Open the Firefox browser and click the "Tools" button from the menu at the top of the page.

        Select "Options" from the drop-down menu. When the Options dialog box opens, click the "General" tab.

        Look to the "Start Up" section and enter "www.google.com" in the form next to "Home Page." Click "OK." Google is now set as your home page.

        Look to the top right of the Firefox browser and click the arrow next to the search engine box. A list of search engine options will open; select "Google" to make Google your default search engine.

      Internet Explorer

        Open the Internet Explorer browser and click the "Tools" button. Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu.

        Click the "General" tab when the Internet Options window opens.

        Enter "www.google.com" in the form under "Home page." Click "OK" to set Google as your new home page.

        Locate the search box at the top right of the browser window. Click the arrow next to the search box to view the search engine options.

      Safari

        Open the Safari browser and select "Safari" from the menu. Select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu.

        Enter "www.google.com" in the form next to "Home page." Close the window. Google is now your home page for Safari.

        Find the search box located at the top-right corner of the browser window. Click the arrow to view the list of search engine options.

        Select "Google" from the list. Google is now your default search engine for Safari.
