Desktop icons offer a convenient shortcut to access your files and open your programs without having to go to the start menu and access the program from there. Internet shortcuts for web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox can be placed on your desktop, and are usually placed there when the browser is first installed on your computer. You can, of course, remove those shortcuts from your desktop.
Locate the Internet shortcut, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera , that you want to delete from your desktop.
Right-click on the shortcut.
Select "Delete" from the drop-down menu. Then click "Yes" to confirm that you want to delete the Internet shortcut.
Tips & Warnings
