Add your site to Google.

Once you have a website up and running, you probably want to spread the word. However, telling your friends and family only goes so far. To spread the word even further you must launch the website through a search engine such as Google. When you submit your site to Google, the search engine looks at your site, then begins to include your site in searches performed for keywords matching your site.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Internet browser and navigate to www.google.com/addurl/.

    • 2

Type in your website's full URL, then type in the printed code displayed on the page. This allows Google to know whether the site is being submitted by a computer or a human. Click "Add URL."

    • 3

Click "OK" once you are shown a new page. The new page has information about how long it should take for your URL to be added to Google. Typically the wait time is a few weeks.

    • 4

Check back on Google every week or so to see whether your site is up on Google yet. Type the name of your website into the search bar to check.
