Change your car's wiper blades regularly to maintain optimal visibility in inclement weather.

It is a good idea to check the condition of the wiper blades on your BMW E46 series sedan on a regular basis. BMW recommends that you replace the wiper blades at least once a year, or at any time they appear cracked or damaged. The BMW E46 series sedans require a 22-inch wiper blade on the driver side, and a 19-inch wiper blade on the passenger side. You can buy replacement blades at most auto parts stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the engine and let the wipers on your E46 come to rest at the base of the windshield.

    • 2

Pull the wiper arm straight up away from the windshield, until it rests in an upright position. Flip the wiper blade backward, until it is facing up and away from the windshield.

    • 3

Pull the release lever on the wiper arm, located in the center of the wiper blade. Pull the lever to the right to release the wiper blade.

    • 4

Bend the wiper blade down toward the windshield and unhook it from the wiper arm. Pull the blade off the wiper arm.

    • 5

Insert the new wiper blade on the hook of the wiper arm. Press the wiper blade into place until it clicks, locking onto the wiper arm.

    • 6

Repeat the process on the opposite wiper. Test the new wiper blades to be sure they are working properly.
