The expecting mother or father ends the shower by opening the baby gifts. Though the shower is often entertaining, they can get expensive. Save a little money by making your own baby shower invites.       Open up your internet home page. You will want to collect save clip art or pictures for your baby shower invitations. Try online sources, such as Web Weaver or Baby Crayons, for free clip art. Right-click and save the image to your computer for use on your shower invites.

      Open a blank document from your desktop publisher. Search your desktop publisher to see if it offers free invitation templates. Some publishers have a great deal of templates available. To find the templates, click on "File" then on "New." This will open a small window where you can scan through the types of documents available. Search for invitations. Click on it if you find it. From here you can browse the invites available and choose the one you want.

      Whether you use an invite from your desktop publisher or not, you will still need to type the baby shower information into the invitation. Include the location, date and time of the baby shower. Include an R.S.V.P. number or email address for guests.

      Choose the font color, size and style for your invite. The size should be at 12 points or larger. Choose a color that is dark enough to show up once the invitations are printed. Light colors will be harder to read.

      Insert saved clip art by clicking on "Insert." This will open up saved documents on your computer. From here you can insert clip art you copied from online sources. You may also be able to add clip art available from your desktop publisher. If so, search through the clip art pictures to find the ones you want to add to your baby shower invitations.

      Run a spell and grammar check before printing out the invites. Test print one invite, and scan over it. If it needs adjustments, make them on your computer. Print out as many invites as you need once you are happy with the invitations.
