Rogers Cable is a company that provides a variety of different services, including cable, Internet and phone access. When using the Internet connection through the company you connect through a cable modem. This gives you the ability to access the Internet directly through your cable line. However, if you want to add wireless to your Internet without purchasing additional coverage you can connect a wireless router yourself.
Things You'll Need
- Rogers Cable modem
- Ethernet cable
- Wireless router
Plug the Ethernet cable into one of the numbered out ports on the back of the Rogers Cable cable modem.
Insert the opposite end of the Ethernet cable into the "WAN" port on the wireless router you have. Power on both the wireless router and the Rogers modem.
Look on the bottom of the wireless router. Here you can find an http address, followed by a series of numbers. Launch the Internet browser on the computer and type this exact address into the URL bar, then press "Enter." The wireless router activiation page now appears on the screen.
Type in a new username and password. If you are asked for a default password at first type in "admin" for both. Check off that you are using a network and that it is connected to a cable modem. Select "Save" and this activates your wireless router. You are now set to begin using the wireless router and Internet connection with the Roger Cable connection.
