How to Make Christmas Elf Costumes for Kids
Whether the costume is for a school function, a parade float or a family photograph, some events require that a child be adorned in an elf costume. One of these festive costumes can be purchased at a Christmas specialty store or a department store for quite a lot of money. Or, a parent or caregiver could construct a Christmas elf costume at home in a matters of hours with the assistance of the little elf-in-training. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Over-sized green vest
- Over-sized red turtle neck
- Scissors
- Red fabric buttons
- Needle
- Thread
- Fabric glue
- Red pom poms
- Green pom poms
- Ankle-length slipper socks
- Jingle bell
- Santa Claus hat
- Newspaper
- Glitter paint
- Paint brush
- Green tights
- Gold rope
- Blush
- Blush brush

Cut the bottom of the green vest and red turtle neck in a zig zag pattern.

Remove the buttons from the vest and replace them with red fabric buttons. Attach the buttons with a needle and thread or fabric glue.

Glue red and green pom poms, alternating colors, around the opening of the slipper socks. They should form a circle.

Glue one large red pom pom to the middle of the sock's toes. Glue a bell right next to the pom pom.

Stuff balls of newspaper into a Santa hat to create the elf's hat.

Write the child's name on the front of the elf hat with glitter paint.

Dress the child in a pair of green tights, the turtle neck, the vest, the slipper socks and the hat. Tie a gold rope around the child's waist for a belt.

Give your child rosy cheeks with blush.
