Poker dealers have a method of shuffling that ensures a random deal each time. Additionally, having a standard shuffling procedure ensures efficiency and speed when dealing. Proper shuffling technique is a very useful skill to learn for anyone who plays poker.

      Scramble the cards. Spread the deck on the table and mix the cards up with both hands. Use circular motions to mix the cards around. When finished, gather and square the deck to prepare for shuffling.

      Riffle shuffle the deck. Cut the deck into two equal halves and position the halves next to each other at a slight angle. Using your thumbs, lift up on the cards to shuffle. Just shuffle the cards together at the corner and then square the halves together when you are done shuffling. Complete this process three times.

      Strip the deck. Holding the deck in one hand, use your other hand to grab the top third of the deck and place it on the table. Repeat this process by taking another group of cards and placing it on top of the first cut. Finally, place the remainder of the deck on top of the previous two cuts.

      Perform another riffle shuffle.

      Cut the deck. Place the cut card on the table in front of the deck. Cut the top half of the deck off and place it on the cut card. Finally, take the bottom half of the deck and place it onto the half that you just cut.
