Decorate the walls in your game room to make the space come together.

Wall decor typically brings an entire room together, or even sets the tone for the room's decor, by threading common elements throughout the room. The walls in your game room should reflect the theme of the room and tie it all together. The exact wall decor you choose for your game room will depend on the type of games you have in the room, who utilizes the room and your decorating theme or color scheme. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the walls of the game room in a color that will make your wall decor pop against the paint. For example, if the game room is mostly used by someone who loves sports, consider using the colors of his favorite team or primary colors found in many different sports teams, such as red or blue. If it's a children's game room, consider painting the walls in bright colors such as red, blue or yellow, to promote games and activity. Upscale poker or pool rooms could use deep burgandy, rich browns or dark green walls.

    • 2

Frame pictures or posters that complement the game room theme. For example, a game room built around the Lakers can include framed posters of various Laker players, team photos and jerseys. A fancy poker or pool room could include a large copy of the infamous picture of dogs playing poker or pool. A children's game room could include kid-friendly posters or pictures. If the game room is set up for a teen's video games, include framed posters of her favorite video games.

Hang team pendants, banners or large wall decals of your favorite sports teams or leagues. For example, if you or your family are fans of the NFL, hang banners that represent each team in the league.

    • 4

Include neon signs or create an entire wall of various neon signs, such as those found at many sports bars, if the game room is mostly used by adults who enjoy the sports bar scene.

    • 5

Install floating shelves or add glass display cases to show off your sports memorabilia or your own trophies and awards. For example, signed balls, tickets and pictures from sports events you've attended or other collectibles. Your own helmet, balls, trophies, medals or other awards could add to the decor as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a common theme or color scheme to tie all of the wall decor together. If all of the objects don't have a common element, the whole room could look completely chaotic.

  • Avoid hanging anything too heavy on the wall, particularly valuable memorabilia.
