How to Install a Sound Driver on an Asus Motherboard

A sound driver allows an audio card or motherboard to input and output sound. Many ASUS motherboards come with onboard sound, meaning a separate audio card is not required. The sound driver is included with the ASUS motherboard on an installation CD or it may be downloaded from the ASUS support site.

Things You'll Need

  • ASUS Installation CD

    • 1

Insert the ASUS Installation CD included with your motherboard. If you do not have the CD, go to the ASUS support site, find your motherboard, then download the driver located under "Audio."

    • 2

Click on the audio driver in the installation utility that opens up when you insert the CD. The utility should automatically open to the drivers page. If you downloaded the driver, double-click on it to install it.

    • 3

Keep clicking "Next" in the installation wizard to install the driver. You will need to restart the computer to finalize the installation.
