Instructions

    • 1
      Step 1

Locate the interior door handle mounting screw in the handle opening. Using a 5/16" wrench or 1/4" drive ratchet equipped with an extension and 5/16" socket, loosen the interior door handle mounting screw by turning counter clockwise. When nearly loosened, retain the screw and broken handle in your wrench or socket with your finger. This will ensure that you do not lose the screw or damaged handle inside the door.

      Step 2

Now that the screw and damage handle has been removed, feel the handle's mounting surface inside the door with your finger. On the mounting surface, you will feel an alignment tab. There is a notch on the new interior door handle's mounting surface that must be aligned with the tab. While holding the screw through the door handle with the wrench and your finger or the ratchet setup, align the handle notch with the tab and start turning your screw clockwise to tighten. Before tightening, be sure the handle is seated properly.

      Step 3

Thoroughly lubricate the door latch assembly with any spray lubricant or oil. This will ensure the latch is working smoothly and will prevent sticking.

      Step 4

Test the new interior door handle by opening and closing the door several times. This will also help the oil to penetrate all surfaces on the door latch assembly.

Tips & Warnings

  • A 1/4" drive ratchet equipped with an extension and 5/16" socket works best. Makes it easier to remove and install the interior door handle screw, due to limited space.

  • Be sure not to drop the screw and damaged handle inside the door while removing.
