How to Change the Default Media Player in Ubuntu
Ubuntu is an operating system designed to meet the computing needs of any user. It comes with access to hundreds of free applications and allows the user to change most settings to personal specifications. If you're running Ubuntu and want to change the default media player, you can do it in just a few clicks of a mouse.

Go to System > Preferences on the Ubuntu desktop. Here you'll find a list of all the settings you can manipulate in Ubuntu.

Click on "Preferred Applications." This program allows you to change the default applications for Internet, Multimedia, System and Accessibility.

Click on the "Multimedia" tab. Click on the drop-down menu below "Multimedia Player" and select the media player you want as default. Click "Close" and your new settings are saved.
