How to Unlock PowerPoint Graphics

If your PowerPoint presentation contains a graphic that you cannot seem to edit or move, locate it as part of the master slide. You can "unlock" it by editing the master. You can also add charts and WordArt objects or link (or embed) data from other Office applications, such as an Excel worksheet.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the PowerPoint presentation that contains the graphic you cannot edit.

    • 2

      Click "View," then "Slide Master."

    • 3

Select the object by clicking it.

    • 4

Right-click the graphic and select "Save as Picture." For example, save it as a JPEG file.

    • 5

Right-click the slide and select "Format Background..." to change the background.

    • 6

Click "Picture or Texture Fill" and then "File" to locate a new graphic image to use as the background.

    • 7

Click "Apply to All," then save your file.
