      Collect as many previous bills as you can (usually up to one year). You also may be able to do this online at your service provider's website.

      Add the numbers for each month's bills.

      Divide your total from Step 2 by the number of bills you used. For instance, if your electric bills for the past six months were $100, $150, $148, $110, $99 and $105, you would perform the following equations:
      100 + 150 + 148 + 110 + 99 + 105 = 712
      712 / 6 = 118.67
      Therefore, your average monthly electric bill for these six months would be $118.67.
