1
Upload your chosen photo to Picnik, which is linked in the Resources section, or a similar free photo-editing website. Click on the "Upload Pictures" button and locate the photo that you would like to use for your greeting card on your computer. Select that photo by clicking on it after it is uploaded to the site.
-
2
Edit your photo if necessary. Adjust the colors, contrast and other attributes using the different photo editing options available on the website. You can also crop the photo to make the picture more focused or to remove anything that you do not want to be seen.

Click on the "Create" tab to move to more creative photo editing features. Add whatever photo effects, text, frames or shapes that you wish. You can add different seasonal frames to your photo for holidays like Christmas or Valentine's Day. You can add text to write your own greeting or a family update. You can also use photo editing effects, such as focal soften, to make a picture taken with an inexpensive point-and-shoot digital camera look more like a photo taken with a more professional and expensive camera.
-
4
Click the "Save and Share" tab to save your photo greeting card creation. You can change the name of the photo so you do not replace the original photo with your edited photo. You can also adjust the photo's dimensions at this point. Click the "Save Photo" button to save the edited picture to your computer.
-
5
Open the edited photo in any picture-viewing program that will allow you to print. Select "Print" from the "File" menu. Load your printer with photo paper. Adjust your printing preferences to the size of the photo paper you're using, typically either 4-by-6 inches or 5-by-7 inches. Also, make sure the print quality is set to "Photo" so you get the highest quality print possible.

Tips & Warnings
You can attach the photo to a blank, hard copy greeting card in the same size if you prefer a more traditional greeting card to a postcard-style greeting card. Use clear adhesive photo corners to attach the photo so the recipients can remove the photo and frame it if they wish.
