Microwave ovens are helpful tools to prepare meals in a hurry. They come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. Despite their capabilities, there are times when a microwave needs repair. When repairing a microwave oven, the first step you should take is the removal of the exterior of the oven. Here are some simple steps to take apart a microwave oven.

Taking Apart Microwave Oven
Unplug microwave oven.
Remove the glass plate from inside of the microwave.
Using the screwdriver, unscrew the frame of the microwave oven. The frame is what encases the microwave oven.
Remove the frame from the microwave oven. After the frame is removed, the rest of the microwave oven will be easier to take apart.
Unscrew the back wall of the microwave oven.
Remove the back wall from the microwave oven, using the pliers.
Deactivate the capacitor. The capacitor helps the microwave function properly and efficiently. It is located next to the transformer, which is a large metal box. Be extremely careful. Hold the capacitor with alligator clips, which you can get at a hardware store. Very carefully and slowly touch the terminals on the capacitor. You should hear a loud noise, indicating that it is deactivated.

- Make sure you unplug the microwave to avoid potential electric shock. Discharge the capacitor very carefully.
