There's a little bit of child in all of us when there's snow on the ground, and there's nothing like a good winter white romp to bring it out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gloves
  • Coats
  • Gloves
  • Gloves
  • Buttered Rum
  • Casserole Ingredients
  • Mulled Wines
  • Party Snacks
  • Cross-country Skis
  • Skates
  • Sleds
  • cider
  1. Step 1

Be prepared to be spontaneous ' unless you live in the far North where you can count on fields of white all winter, this is usually a spur-of-the-moment party.

  2. Step 2

Make a few hearty casseroles and stash them in your freezer early in the season.

  3. Step 3

Lay in a supply of party snacks and the makings of your favorite winter libations, such as hot buttered rum, mulled wine or cider.

  4. Step 4

Take an inventory of your cold-weather gear and make sure boots, coats and gloves will be ready when you need them ' as well as skates, sleds and cross-country skis.

  5. Step 5

Greet the first heavy snowfall with a whoop of joy as you rush to the telephone.

  6. Step 6

Call your most fun-loving friends and ask them to bundle up and meet you for a day of skiing, sledding, building snowmen - or simply a long walk in the snow.

  7. Step 7

Warm up back at your place over a casual dinner, hot drinks and a holiday sing-along.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you entertain frequently - or would like to - your best friends, especially at holiday time, are a well-stocked freezer, pantry and bar.

on 11/22/2005 About 1 week before Christmas our whole family spends one night sleeping on the living room floor in front of the tree. We watch special holiday videos and the kids fall asleeep with the tree lights on. It's wonderful fun.
