How to Get an FFL Application Form

In order to sell, manufacture, collect or import firearms, U.S. citizens must first obtain the proper type of Federal Firearms License (FFL) from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). A detailed and rather taxing process, getting your FFL requires you to first purchase the application materials themselves.

Instructions

1. Visit the ATF's online Distribution Center Order Form. See the "Resources" section below for a direct link.

2. Enter your full name, phone number, e-mail address and mailing address in the "Customer Information" section.

3. Click on "Applications" at the top of the large teal column on the right side of the web page.

4. Check the box next to "ATF F 7(5310.12) - Federal Firearms License Application Packet."

5. Click the "Add" button in the beige area directly above the teal section. This will cause the words "ATF F 7(5310.12) - Federal Firearms License Application Packet" to appear in the text field under the "Order Item Information" section to the left.

6. Enter "1" in the adjacent text field, which is labeled "Quantity."

7. Click the "Submit" button. When prompted, enter your credit card information and click "Purchase." The application should arrive within two to four weeks.
