How to Block a Specific Website
Parental controls on your Macintosh and PC is meant to protect your children from dangerous websites, and provide you with the option to block all websites, or block a specific site from being viewed. Once the site is blocked, your child will be unable to access the, and if he attempts to, a display message will appear that asks for the administrator password. Be sure to keep your administrator password in a safe place, or create a password that is easy for you to remember but difficult for your children to figure out.

Parental Controls for a Macintosh Computer

Click the "Apple" icon and select "System Preferences" from the drop-down menu.

Click the "Parental Controls" icon under the "System" section, and double-click your child's account on the sidebar.

Click the "Content" tab, and click the circle next to "Try to limit access to adult websites automatically" and click the "Customize" button.

Click the "+" button under the "Never allow these websites" section and type the website. Press the "Return" button on your keyboard, and click the "OK" button to save the changes.

Double-click the "Internet Explorer" icon on your desktop, and click "Tools" at the top of the menu.

Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu, and click the "Content" tab, and click the "Enable" button in the Content Advisor section.

Click the "Approved Sites" tab, and type in the website you wish to block.

Click the "Never" button to add the site to the block list, and click "OK" to save the changes.

Click the "General" tab, and click the "Change Password' button. Create a new password, and click "OK."

Click "Start," and select "Control Panel" from the pop-up menu.

Select "Set up Parental Controls" under the User Accounts section. Enter your administrator password to continue.

Click your child's user account, and click the "On" button to turn on Parental Controls.

Click the "Windows Vista Web Filter" link, and click "Block some websites or content."

Click "Edit the Allow and block list."

Type the address you wish to block, and click "Block." Click "OK" to save the changes.
