How to Create Business Name From Two Real Names

1. Brainstorm with your business partner. Look for ways the two of you can combine your names without making any alterations or trying to use creative tricks to combine them. Pay attention to the sound of your two names combined. Your names may come natural to you, but they may be difficult for other people to pronounce in their entirety or used together. If this is the case, try shortening your names in the combination.

2. Write down combinations of names that create a description relevant to your business or get creative and look for combinations of words that contradict one another. If you're having trouble combining words and getting them to make sense, try making an anagram (a word made by rearranging the order of the letters from another word) from two real names to create a completely new word or name.

3. Compile a list of possible name choices and do a search at the United States Patent and Trademark Office to ensure the name you come up with hasn't already been registered as a trademark. Having more than one name in mind helps ensure you have something to fall back on if your first choice is taken.
