How To Make a Pregnant Doll
Making a doll that is pregnant is a great project to teach your child about pregnancy and to illustrate how a mother looks when she's expecting. The plain nature of this doll encourages the imaginations of those playing with it, allowing them to conjure up details and facial expressions in their minds.

1
Draw a pattern for your doll on a piece of paper. Sketch a body with arms, legs and a head, along with a large waistline. Keep the hands a simple soft triangle shape, perhaps with a thumb, and draw the feet a soft rectangular shape, with small scallops for toes, if you like. Draw the entire pattern an inch larger than the actual size you want the finished doll because once it's filled, it will become three-dimensional and narrower than it appears when laying flat.

2
Apply the pattern to a piece of skin-colored fabric using pins. Carefully cut out the fabric along the lines of your pattern. Repeat this step to cut out the backside fabric for the doll.

3
Turn the front side of the fabric pieces so they face each other and line them up as best you can. Pin.
Sew the front and back of the doll together, leaving a couple of inches unsewn so you can stuff it later. Turn the entire piece inside out so the right sides of the fabric are facing out and the stitching is now on the inside.

4
Fill the doll carefully with fiberfill or another stuffing of your choice. Use a crochet hook or knitting needle to help you stuff all the nooks and crannies, such as the thumbs, hands, toes and appendages. Stuff thoroughly and evenly until the entire body and pregnant belly are firm.
Sew the two-inch stuffing hole back up by hand, making tiny stitches and folding the edges of the fabric in to create a nice, neat seam. Tie off the thread and clip close to the knot.

5
Attach doll hair by sewing it along the back of the head in your desired arrangement. Fluff up and style the hair and check for any thin areas. If you would like, create a part in the hair by placing a row of hair along the whole top of the head with the sides of hair falling evenly on either side of the head. Sew a seam, or hair part, down the middle or side of the head.
