How to Stream Netflix Movies With a Nintendo Wii Game Console

With an active Netflix account, you can watch Netflix instant streaming movies on your Nintendo Wii game console. You will need an Internet-ready Wii game console, a Netflix unlimited plan, a wired or wireless home network and a high-speed Internet connection. To set up a wired connection, you will also need a Wii LAN adapter. Once you've got the service set up, you can instantly watch a wide range of movies in many different genres on the Wii in widescreen format.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Nintendo Wii game console and ensure it's connected to the Internet. Navigate to the "Wii Shop Channel." Press the "A" button on your Wii remote. Choose "Start," then "Start Shopping."

2. Select "Wii Channels." Select the "Netflix Channel." Select "Free 0 Wii Points," then choose whether you'd like to download the Netflix channel to the Wii system memory or an SD card. Select "OK" to start the Netflix channel download.

3. Get on your computer and go to the Wii activation page of the Netflix website. Type in the code from your TV screen, then click "Activate."

4. Browse your Netflix Instant Queue using the arrow buttons on your Wii remote control. Add movies using the "Browse" button in the upper-left corner. Choose a viewing category to find movies to watch. Choose "Search" to search for movies by keyword using your Wii remote.

5. Click the movie you would like to watch. Choose "Play" to watch the movie immediately. Select "Add to Instant Queue" to watch the movie later.

Tips & Warnings

• To get the best streaming video quality, you must have a high-speed Internet connection of 1.5 megabits per second (Mbps) or faster.

• If you want to watch Netflix movies in widescreen mode on the Wii game console, you must change the aspect ratio settings on your Wii game console and on your TV. To set widescreen mode on your Wii, select the "Wii" button, then press the "A" button on your remote. Select "Wii Settings" and then "Screen." Select "Widescreen" and select "Confirm" to save the settings.

• You cannot watch movies in HD using a Wii game console.
