How to Observe Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a legal U.S. holiday observed each year on November 11. It honors all veterans, living and dead, who fought in wars since World War I.

Check the Veterans Day home page of the Department of Veterans Affairs (va.gov) to find out if you live near an official Veterans Day Regional Site.

Call your local school principal to volunteer your time for Veterans Day activities. Since school is not in session on the holiday, a celebration will most likely be held a few days earlier.

Call someone you know who served in the armed forces, just to say thanks.

Attend a Veterans Day parade in your community to show your support.

Hang an American flag outside your home.

If you live in or around Washington, D.C., visit one of the many memorials to U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in battle.
