Instructions

    • 1

Dampen a rag with paint thinner. Do not over-saturate the rag; wring out the rag if you notice any thinner dripping from it.

    • 2

Wipe away the stencil pattern using the damp rag. Use your index finger to apply pressure with the rag, effectively working the stencil pattern from the wall.

    • 3

Scrape away any remaining evidence of the stencil pattern using a plastic putty knife. Us a rag dampened with paint thinner as a buffer between the wall and the putty knife to avoid causing abrasions to the surface.

    • 4

Dry the wall using a terry cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Paint thinner is petroleum-based. Do not mistake turpentine, which is tree-based, for paint thinner.

  • Do not use lacquer thinner in place of paint thinner; you could damage the surface.

  • Do not use a coarse brush to attempt to clean a stencil pattern from a wall.

  • Do not use chemical cleaners to remove a stencil pattern from a wall, as this may cause it to bond further.
