How to Remove a CD From an iMac

How to Remove a CD From an iMac thumbnail
There are several ways to remove a CD from an iMac.

iMac computers include a slot-loading optical drive (REFERENCE 1). Slot-loading drives pull CDs into the computer once the user inserts the disk into the slot (REFERENCE 2). You can remove a CD from the iMac using normal ejecting procedures or by using a manual eject command. If you are having problems removing a CD from your iMac, check to see if any programs are using the CD. The CD will not eject if it is in use.

Instructions

    • 1

Eject the CD by pressing the "Eject" key in the upper right-hand corner of the keyboard. An eject icon will appear on the screen and the CD will eject from the drive.

    • 2

Eject the CD by dragging the icon of the CD to the Trash in the dock. The CD will eject from the drive.

    • 3

Eject the CD manually by going to the "Apple" menu and highlighting "Restart." When the computer restarts, hold down the button on your mouse. The CD will eject from the drive.
