How to See a Satellite View of North Carolina
A satellite image is a picture of the Earth (or place on Earth) taken from an orbital satellite. It can show roads, terrain and bodies of water. There are a few different ways to view satellite images online. To see a satellite view of the whole state of North Carolina, use Google Maps' satellite imagery or other sites such as Geology.com.

Log on to your preferred site to view satellite images. Google Maps is a popular choice, as it lets you view a map in a variety of forms, including a street map, terrain map or satellite imagery. SatelliteViews also shows satellite imagery powered by Google, so you can zoom in and out and choose the location you want.

To see a static image of the entire state, log onto Geology.com. Click "Satellite Images." Select "Satellite Images of US States." There, you can select "North Carolina" from the list of states. It will show one large image of the state taken with satellite cameras.

Using Google Maps, enter "North Carolina" in the search box. Similarly, on SatelliteViews, click the "North Carolina" link. Click the "Map" link on the blue bar at the top of the screen to bring up the satellite map.

Click the "plus icon" on the zoom slider to zoom in on the map. Drag the hand cursor on the map to change locations.

Tips & Warnings
All of these satellite imagery sites are free. They don't require additional software to view the images. Just log on to the website, and the satellite photos will load.
