How to Record From DVR to PC
A digital video recorder (DVR) can hold hundreds of hours of television programming in the internal hard disc drive, but will eventually become full unless programs are erased or offloaded. One solution is to connect the DVR to a PC with video recording software so copies can be transferred to the computer for editing, storage or burning to a DVD if desired. Composite AV cables are used to connect the components so programming can be recorded from the DVR to the PC.
Things You'll Need
- Composite audio/video cables
- PC with video capture card and recording software installed.

Tips & Warnings
Plan to use about 10 gigabytes of hard-drive space on the PC for every hour of recorded video from the DVR.
Once the program has been copied to the PC, it can be deleted from the DVR to free up memory space.
Shut down the computer and unplug the DVR while connecting AV cables.
