How to Remove Adobe Reader Speed Launch

Speed Launch is an Adobe program that programs, such as Acrobat and Reader, use to shorten the length of time needed to launch. Speed Launcher is stored in the Startup folder and launches automatically when you start your computer. If you do not want this program to launch automatically, Adobe enables you to disable Speed Launcher any time you want without damaging or interfering with Adobe Acrobat or Reader.

  1. Windows XP

      Double-click "My computer" on the desktop to launch Windows Explorer. Double-click the "C:" drive, and double-click the "Documents and Settings" folder.

      Double-click the "All Users" folder and double-click the "Start Menu" folder. Scroll through the Start Menu folder and double-click the "Programs" folder.

      Double-click the "Start up" folder, located in the Programs folder. Locate Speed Launcher and delete it. If you have both Acrobat and Reader installed on the same system, two Speed Launcher icons appear in the Startup folder. Delete the second Speed Launcher file.

    Windows Vista and 7

      Double-click "Computer" to launch Windows Explorer. Double-click the "C:" drive and double-click the "All Users" folder.

      Double-click your username folder and double-click the "AppData" folder. Double-click the "Roaming" folder, double-click the "Microsoft" folder and then double-click the "Start Menu" folder.

      Double-click the "Start up" folder located in the "Start Menu folder. Locate Speed Launcher and delete it. If you have both Acrobat and Reader installed on the same system, two Speed Launcher icons appear in the Startup folder. Delete the second Speed Launcher file.
