How to Wear Safety Goggles
Your eyes are incredibly vulnerable to injury from chemicals or airborne debris. Safety goggles protect your eyes while you work or play certain sports like racquetball. Unlike safety glasses without side shields, safety goggles protect not only from the front, but from objects or chemicals that may enter the eye area from the side. Goggles work best, however, only if you wear them correctly. Dirty or ill-fitting goggles may still leave you prone to accidents. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Dampen a clean cloth with water or with a cleaner specifically created for your type of safety goggles. Wipe the inside and the outside of the goggles with the cloth--do this before you put them on, each time. This prevents particles of dust or other debris that might have settled in the goggles from irritating your eyes.

2
Adjust the goggle strap for an accurate fit. The nose piece should fit snugly against the bridge of your nose, without sliding down. The strap of the goggles should rest either on the top of your earlobe or securely above the earlobe (whichever provides a more comfortable fit, without creating unsafe gaps, for your head shape). Many goggle straps can be adjusted by pulling the strap ends (located on the left and the right side of the goggles).

Remove goggles if your vision is obstructed due to the goggles' fogging up, or any other reason--but do so only in an area where goggles are not necessary. In other words, do not remove them in your work area--it only takes a moment for a particle or chemical to damage unprotected eyes.

Tips & Warnings
You should replace old safety goggles with new ones any time the goggles show wear--specifically if the lenses are scratched, the strap is loose or broken or the goggles have any other damage that might compromise the ability to protect your eyes.
