Bank of America offers a variety of online accounts that can simplify your finances by putting them all in one place. From auto loans to credit cards to checking and savings accounts, Bank of America lets you keep track of them on its website by having your own account. To complete an application for an online account, you must have a valid Social Security number and state-issued ID, such as a driver's license.

Instructions

      Collect your Social Security number, license or state ID, current bank account information, and current and previous home and workplace addresses.

      Click on the account you'd like to open on Bank of America's online account application (see References). Bank of America offers online accounts for checking, savings and CDs, credit cards, online banking, refinance, investments, insurance, small business and auto loans.

      Click "Open An Account."

      Complete the entire online application on the screen. The application should take you 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

      Transfer money into your new account from an existing account or deposit a check from your existing account. Depending on the account you open, this step may be optional. For certain accounts, you may be able to send money to a physical Bank of America branch versus having to deposit it online.

      Submit your application and receive a confirmation number and e-mail confirmation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bank of America will respond to you within three business days to let you know your approval status on your online account. Once you have been approved, the bank will provide you a link via e-mail to set up a username and login for the account.

  • You will be able to access all of your account information through the Web once you are logged in. You will be able to access a limited amount of your account if you log in through mobile devices such as a BlackBerry.
