How to Open the Task Manager From Run

Open the Task Manager using the Run command.

The Task Manager utility is part of all modern editions of Microsoft's Windows operating system. In addition to providing a broad range of information about computer performance and memory usage, the utility allows you to view a list of all open applications, running processes and Windows services. Although most users access the Task Manager by pressing the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys at the same time, you can also open it using the Run command.

Instructions

1. Ensure that the Run utility is enabled by right-clicking a blank area in your taskbar and selecting "Properties." Click the "Start Menu" tab near the top of the resulting dialog box, then click the "Customize" button. Scroll down the list of Start Menu options and check the box labeled either "Display Run" or "Run Command" if the box is not yet checked. Click "OK" to confirm the change.

2. Click the Windows Start button and select "Run."

3. Type "taskmgr" (without quotation marks) and click "OK." The Task Manager utility opens immediately.
