How to Customize Your Mouse Pointer

Are you tired of the same boring mouse pointer? Windows 95, 98 and NT offer some variations; many commercial mouse packages come with more interesting designs.

    • Computer Mice
    • Mouse Pads

        Click Start and select Settings.

        Select Control Panel.

        Double-click the Mouse icon to display Mouse Properties.

        Click the Pointers tab.

        Click the down arrow on the right of the Scheme field to display the

        different pointer designs.

      • 7

        View each scheme to display the pointer icons assigned to various mouse functions.

        Select the scheme you like, or create your own mouse scheme by selecting a pointer icon and using the Browse button to find and replace the pointer icon. (Look in the Cursors folder within the Windows folder.) Be sure to name and save the customized scheme.

        Click OK or Apply to change to the new mouse pointer.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use the large cursor on high-resolution monitors.

    • Animated cursors require more memory to run; therefore, change to a regular cursor if your programs require more memory.

    • Search the Internet for a wide variety of cursor icons (especially the animated ones).
