How to Adjust 2003 Pontiac Sunfire Headlights

The headlights on your 2003 Pontiac Sunfire can be adjusted using the two screws at the top of the headlight housing assembly. These screws adjust the lateral and vertical position of the headlight. The left screw adjusts the vertical adjustment while the right screw adjusts the lateral adjustment. Adjusting the Sunfire's headlights is normally not necessary unless you have just replaced the headlight assembly.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your 2003 Pontiac Sunfire so that it faces a closed garage door. Make sure that the Sunfire is parked 25 feet away from the door.

    • 2

Turn the headlights on and shine them onto the garage door.

    • 3

Open the hood and adjust the headlights using the two screws at the top of the headlight housing assembly. Turn the screws using a screwdriver so that the headlight beam shines directly in front of the Sunfire and the headlights shine towards the bottom of the garage door where the door meets the ground. The center of the beam should hit the bottom of the garage door from 25 feet away. The lateral adjustment of the headlights should leave both headlight beams overlapping each other by about 50 percent.
